Lebourg was born in Montfort-l'Amaury, a small town near Paris, in 1849. He began his artistic training at the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, where he studied under the renowned painter Jean-Léon Gérôme. However, Lebourg soon abandoned the traditional academic style of painting and embraced the principles of Impressionism, which emphasized the importance of capturing the fleeting effects of light and atmosphere.

Lebourg was one of the founding members of the Impressionist group, and he participated in their first exhibition in 1874. His works were well-received by critics and the public, and he quickly became one of the most successful Impressionist painters. Lebourg continued to paint throughout his life, and he produced a large body of work that includes over 1,000 paintings.

Lebourg's paintings are held in museums and private collections around the world. Some of his most famous works include "The Seine at Argenteuil" (1873),"The Edge of the Forest" (1875),and "The Bridge at Villeneuve-la-Garenne" (1885). His paintings continue to inspire and delight viewers today, and they are considered to be some of the finest examples of Impressionist art.
